Screenwriter Dante Harper’s script adaptation from the 2004 Japanese novel, “All You Need Is Kill” now has a director attached. Doug Liman will direct from Harper’s script, which sticks closely to the plot of the book, in which a soldier in a futuristic war against aliens wakes up at the exact same moment in time every time he dies. Much like a higher concept, “Groundhog Day”, the film will show what happens as the solider becomes more skilled every time he is given another chance at life.
Another Nicholas Sparks book is making its way to the big screen. This time it’s, “Lucky One”, in which a marine who survived three tours of duty sets out to discover the identity of a mysterious woman in a picture he found and carried throughout his time in the war. Writer Will Fetters adapted the script.
Michael Wilson and Ahmet Zappa have just sold a screenplay to Disney titled, “Monster Witness Relocation Program”. The script stems from a 2005 purchase of Zappa’s whimsical novel, “Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless”, in which a young child discovers he comes from a long line of monster hunters.
Director/Writer George Griffith is finishing the casting process on his next film, “From the Head”, which is loosely based on his time working as a strip club bathroom attendant. Matthew Lillard just joined the cast, which will be a large ensemble piece. The format of the film will be, “day in the life of”, and will feature those who visit the bathroom where the attendant works.
The 2003 Jonathan Safran Foer novel, “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” is inching its way to a shooting date. The script was adapted by Eric Roth and though the film hasn’t been greenlit yet, several actors are already circling the production for the rumored high quality of the script.
