Six to Know Before You Go - New Releases from the Weekend

.
Predators” and “Despicable Me” came out this weekend along with six other lesser known releases. Here are your choices at the box office this week if you're interested in catching a matinee.

1. “[Rec] 2” is the follow-up to the enormously popular Spanish horror film, “[Rec]”. The film picks up immediately after the conclusion of the first film with another team sent into the quarantined apartment building that has been invaded by a very deadly “virus”. If you like horror, don’t miss this. It’s the “Aliens” to [Rec]’s “Alien”. If that translates…

2. “The Kids Are All Right” is a comedy with dramatic elements about what happens when the children of a sperm donor grow up and track him down. Julianne Moore and Annette Benning play the mothers of the children, now having to suddenly deal with the presence of the children’s biological father in their life and the cracks that he accidentally exposes in their relationship.

3. “Winnebago Man” is the documentary that tracks down the infamous Jack Rebney, star of the ubiquitous YouTube sensation, “Winnebago Man”. The film exposes the effects of the clip on Rebney’s life, his fears and his absolutely authentic personality, and the unexpected glory that’s his to claim if he’ll only allow it. This film may be more endearing than you ever could’ve predicted.

4. “The Girl Who Played with Fire” is another adaptation of one of the popular Stieg Larsson novels in the Millennium Series. This one follows a woman named Lisbeth caught in an international triangle of intrigue. As Lisbeth attempts to expose the corruption of a sex trafficking ring, she finds herself running for her life and framed for murder. Unbeknownst to her, there is a detective on her side working the case, learning all about the personal injustices that have lead her directly to this life threatening conspiracy.

5. “Around a Small Mountain” is the touching and quiet story of a man who stops to help a woman whose car has broken down on a mountain. He helps her without a word, only to discover when he reaches town that there is a mystery surrounding the woman that he can’t seem to get out of his mind. He must seek her again to unravel the mystery and pursue what might be a chance at real love.

6. “No One Dies in Lily Dale” is the much buzzed about HBO documentary that travels to explore the town of Lily Dale, famous for having an unusually high concentration of self-professed mediums. The film follows the mediums of the town as they attempt to give closure to people who have lost loved ones. There is also a focus put on the town’s official religion, “spiritualism”.

I think that the "without a word" part plays a heavier role in the film than emphasized in the marketing. The whole schtick is that the two have never spoken and yet he feels this huge connection. I'd like to see it too.
