The annual Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair recently hit newsstands and it's chock-full of great articles on the biz. It has some old (RAGING BULL, JOHN HUGHES, the animated SNOW WHITE, and LOVE STORY) and some new -- specifically, Annie Leibovitz photographs many young Hollywood ingenues, as well as photographs of the people behind Oscar contenders THE HURT LOCKER, AVATAR, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, and CRAZY HEART. See below for more details.
There's a great article on JOHN HUGHES and the whole Brat-Pack era of the 1980's. Going further back, there's an article on the making of RAGING BULL, considered by many Scorses's best and one of the top-ten films of all time. And going even further back, the article ONCE IN LOVE WITH ALI looks at Ali MacGraw of LOVE STORY and the relationships she had with Robert Evans and Steve McQueen.
Other articles cover HBO's new miniseries, THE PACIFIC; the top-40 earners in Hollywood (we hates Michael Bay); the inking and animation behind SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DRAWFS; and a piece on how JON PETERS rode Barbara Streisand's hair to the executive suite.
Obviously there's a lot of glitz and ads as is typical in any Vanity Fair issue, but there is also good quality writing across interesting Hollywood stories. Check it out!

The Hollywood Issue
It's always a lot of fun. Any thoughts on their selections for the cover?
Actually
I don't know half of 'em!
