Splice

Part of the post production / editing phase, tape splicing is a way to join two pieces of 35mm film so they will be projected continuously. Splicer refers to either the person who does the splicing or the tool used to do the splicing.

A guillotine is a special version of a tape splicer, which does not use the standard perforated splicing tape.

Cement Splices

A method of cutting and splicing negatives. The two pieces of film overlap slightly and are glued together with film cement.
