Production Designer

Working very closely with the Director, they are responsible for the overall “look” and atmosphere of the Film.  With the Art Director as their chief assistant, they design the “Sets” and have input on very specific details involved with the shoot; including the wardrobe, props, vehicles as well as helping in the final choice of Locations.

When the Director requests a specific "look" for a film, he or she calls upon the Production Designer to "make it so". In order to accomplish this particular "vision", the Production Designer must coordinate with various departments such as props, costume, special effects, location manager, and even make-up and hair. Each department plays an integral part in the creation of a desired "look" and scene-to-scene cohesion, and it is the Production Designer who orchestrates and organizes this medley of departments.
