What I'm sort of sick of, and never liked really, are movies that take something like a comic or a TV show, then make a movie out of it. Not that I dislike this in itself, but when the original is child oriented, then the movie is adult oriented -- adding a love story, probably sexy outfits, maybe even adult situations, and of course, graphic violence. I hate that.
Or what I guess also happens is they take something that is easily associated with kids (like a comic book character) but might be more adult oriented in the original (e.g. Dark Knight) but then they market the crap out of it to young kids.
I guess of the things I would love to see made into movies, a good sci-fi movie written by somebody who realizes that aliens aren't real, and instead of trying to give them backstory, just uses them as a dramatic device to explore the human condition instead. That would be good :)
I confess that I'm looking forward to the film version of "The Forever War", but and prepared to be disappointed as I heard it's going to be in 3D. *sigh*
I would also love to see some of Tony Hillerman's novels made into big screen movies. I think one of them was made into a movie of the week, but I don't recall which one.
