Absurdism, as it relates to art, referes to literary, theatrical, and philosophical projects in which ordinary settings, themes, and storylines are turned "upside down", becoming bizarre, illogical, incoherent, and well, absurd. Attributed originally to the work of 19th century Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard, Albert Camus's 1942 philosophical essay The Myth of Sisyphus put forth the philisophy that life is inherently without meaning. Works influenced by these philisophies span plays, films, comics, and other forms of art.

Several films spring to mind...
and they all star the Marx Bros. Brilliant comedy. Anyone who wants to become a filmmaker should watch as many as they can get their hands on.
