The Dedication segment of the script has the protagonist taking an action...and there is no turning back from here. This is when protagonist is fully dedicated to reaching the ultimate goal at this point.
toc_collapse=0;The Dedication is used as a "committment" device. The protagonist has just weathered several obstacles. Is he ready to put both feet in and completely dedicate himself to achieving the goal? The answer must be "yes". In some cases, the committment is so strong that the protagonist will take immoral steps to move forward towards the goal.
Also, if the protagonist does take the immoral path, this may be a time when the close ally becomes the moral compass. Such a dilemma creates problems for the protagonist, but creates empathy from the audience.
The Dedication follows the Headway and comes on or around the middle of the film. This should be embodied in a scene that has the protagonist armed with extreme determination...because what lies ahead is not pretty.
