I've been reading the comments and see that people have lost work here and am wondering if that is still an issue -- or how bad of an issue it is. The bad part of it is that my brother and I were going to try colloborating a project here, he wrote some Project Notes and, when he went back about half of them were gone. That wasn't a good start. I would still like to work here (making fairly regular backups) but I would like to know the current status on this issue, work-arounds (things to avoid) and to know if it's a common or rare issue. Do the most of the folks work here without a problem? I really like the tools here, but I can't afford to lose work.
(Thanks for letting me ramble.)
Hi Randy,
Well this is excellent news. Thanks for responding. I'm going to go ahead and work on my personal prodject then -- and see if my brother is interested in continuing the collaboration on the other.
We are VERY HAPPY to report that this problem has been fixed! We did extensive testing of our fix and feel as if this problem should now be put to bed. We will be making a blog post about this and a few other positive developments for FiveSprockets later this month.
Of course, if any of you encounter this or a similar issue again, please report it via our forums or by sending an email to support@fivesprockets.com.

Just to follow up, we've been using FiveSprockets and no problems at this point. Looks to be a great tool. Thanks.
Nice Software and tools..
But the whole site is completely redundant as the one major thing a writer fears most is all too frequent!!! Losing work... Have only joined a couple of weeks ago but have lost so much work and cant find an active save button on scripts!!! can anyone enlighten where this is??? autosave comes on and then dissapears but nothing actually saves... I know its free but should that mean futility as well!!
All the best
When you look up to the top of the screen, do you see the line that includes...
Actions (with drop down) then...
New Project (with plus mark) then...
Save Project (with purple floppy disk) then...
Share Project and then Register Work?
When I first open my script the "Save Project" tab is dimmed out. As soon as I do anything (even add a space) in the script this icon "lights up" and I can click on it. Does this come up for you?
Believe me, I'm not trying to be facetious. I really want this site to work, but I'm worried about losing work because of what happened to my brother and because of what has been written here -- I haven't personally lost anything yet. I'm just curious whether or not you get these options and whether it allows you to click on the "Save Project" option.
BTW, I use Linux and access this site with both Firefox and Google Chrome. Both seem to work the same.
Hi All -- We can now say that a fix to this is coming very soon, probably within a week or two. We are now testing this fix on our staging server. We will report back here and on our blog when the fix is in place.
Here's what's happening and how to avoid it --
When you are on a project's "Script" tab (in the left-hand navigation), if you click on one of the sub-tabs (Script, Details, Script Notes, Beat Sheet, Synopsis, Title Page) WHILE the auto-save kicks in (which happens once a minute), then any changes you made prior to the last autosave will get lost. The auto-save only takes about a second and you'll know it's happening when a brief "Autosave" message appears in the tool bar. So, this is a relatively rare occurence (but still not good).
Workaround -- Before switching between the sub-tabs, select the "Save Project" button.
IMPORTANT -- If anyone else is seeing different behavior than the above, please let us know either via this forum or by sending us an email to support@fivesprockets.com.
